Lafarge Creek Community

Brownfields, which are abandoned industrial and commercial sites, have left large chunks of urban land spoiled, unused and inaccessible. In this project, the focus was transforming the triangular brownfield site at the intersection of Barber and Tracey streets in Athens, Georgia, into a multi-use development that would incorporate residential units, retail, a community recreation center, grocery store, restaurant and a train station. This design retains 30% of the green space on the site and incorporates a trail to connect the different areas and buildings on the property.
